New round of SIPRA support to producers’ association in Rabak Locality

On 28^th July 2026, SOS Sahel Sudan through the Strengthening Inclusive Partnership for Smallholder Producers in Rain-fed Areas (SIPRA) Project, conducted a new round of support to Producer associations and Women youth with Challenge Fund – Track 2 (Small Grants) and startup input for small businesses respectively. This intervention aiming at enhancing value chains, value addition for the producer association and innovative livelihood initiatives for women and youth.

As part of the sustainability measures, each producer association as well as women and youth contributed 10% of the total value of the support/project they received. This co‑contribution reinforces ownership, accountability and long‑term commitment to the project outcomes.

The event was honored by the presence of the Representative of the Minister of Production and Economic Resources, alongside directors from the Rain-fed Agriculture Administration, the Planning Department, the Executive Director of Rabak Locality, representatives of producer association networks and leaders from local communities.

Support to Producer Associations includes:

Two Massey Ferguson 385 tractors, one for each of the following Producer association:

- Hajar Asalaya Al-Sharifiya (South)
- Abu Furwa (North)

Four Chinese hand tractors (intermediate technology) for Al-Kawahla Awlad Zareiba Association, including:

- 12 ploughs (disc, harrow, duckfoot)
- 4 planters

300-liter milk cooler for Awlad Al-Ne’ma Association with associated operation inputs of the following:

- 1 ton of concentrated feed
- Construction of a livestock shed
- Feeders and drinkers

Provide Start-up input to Youth & Women’s Small Enterprises:

These grants targeted existing microprojects to help fill critical gaps and strengthen income generation:

5 vegetable choppers
5 grinders
2 solar-powered deep freezers
10 goats (including 2 bucks), medicines, supplements, antibiotics, materials for constructing two sheds, 11 feed bags, 6 barrels, 6 feeders
3 ovens, 4 gas cylinders, bakery tools, pasta machine, display table
Poultry production inputs: 8 feed bags, medicines, vitamins, feeders, drinkers

Handover event Reflections:

Producer associations praised SOS Sahel Sudan for shifting farming from subsistence to market‑oriented production and adopting improved technologies. Officials highlighted the project’s alignment with national strategies, its transformative impact and contributions to productivity and resilience. Local leaders commended the organization for creating jobs, easing living costs and strengthening social cohesion. SOS Sahel Sudan reaffirmed its commitment to empowering smallholders and advancing sustainable rural development.
