Empowering Women Through Home Gardening and Sustainable Agriculture

In collaboration with the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, SOS Sahel Sudan proudly conducted a 10-day training workshop in July for six women’s groups—reaching 60 dedicated women across Al-Jazira Aba, Asalaya, Al-Rasras, Al-Kawahla Awlad Zureiba, and Al-Marabea.
The training focused on producing vegetables in home gardens and nearby open spaces (Jabarik areas). Participants received a variety of vegetable seeds—including okra, zucchini, squash, eggplant, arugula, watermelon, white cowpea, and hibiscus—along with essential agricultural tools such as manual sprayers, watering equipment, iron brooms, and traditional hoes.
💬 The workshop was met with strong approval by the participants and praised by the Ministry. The initiative is expected to increase vegetable production, enhance nutrition, create new income opportunities, and ultimately improve the livelihoods of women and their families.
Together, we cultivate hope, resilience, and sustainability for communities across Sudan. 🤝🇸🇩
