Strengthening Agricultural Partnerships in White Nile State

SOS Sahel Sudan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources’ Department of Technology Transfer and Extension, recently held a transformative 5-day training workshop under the project “Inclusive Partnerships for Small-Scale Producers in the Traditional Rainfed Sector” in Rabak Locality, White Nile State.

This impactful initiative brought together 25 participants, including:

  • 20 local community leaders (8 women and 12 men).
  • 2 women passionate about agriculture.
  • 3 agricultural engineers specializing in rainfed farming (2 women and 1 man).

The workshop featured a comprehensive program:
interactive training: Three days of sessions on effective extension work, delivering advisory messages, and understanding technical packages. Each participant presented their own learning outcomes.
Field Visits: Two days of hands-on experience exploring advanced farming technologies. Key activities included:

  • Summer ploughing demonstrations using the chisel plough.
  • Visits to the seed propagation lab and main sieve facility.
  • Sessions on pest and disease prevention at the Agricultural Engineering Workshop.

The workshop successfully equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills, laying the groundwork for sustainable growth. Strengthened partnerships between stakeholders and farmers are already taking shape, marking a significant milestone in achieving the project’s objectives
