In a coordination meeting invited by SOS Sahel attended by WES, State Ministry of Health, Executive manager of El Fasher Locality, HAC, NNGO and INGOs and other relevant entities that aimed to evaluate the project’s implementation progress, which was carried out through multiple partnerships, and to assess its impact on peoples affected by the war in North Darfur State. It was clearly reflected that the close coordination with all humanitarian actors and the local authorities is the main factor for successful implementation of emergency projects in difficult security situation.
SOS Sahel representative presented the achievement and stressed that the project achieved its objectives and contributed to decrease suffering of the affected communities, particularly in El Fasher city. She pointed out that the project received widespread good appraisal and encouragement from government authorities, beneficiaries, and implementing partners, reflecting its success and positive impact in improving the conditions of the affected people. Meanwhile, the Executive Director of El Fasher Locality, representing the state government, praised the performance of national and international organizations, expressing his appreciation for the significant efforts made by SOS Sahel Sudan in providing humanitarian assistance to the stranded people in El Fasher Locality.
In an intervention via video conference, the Director General of SOS Sahel Sudan assured his support to all coordination and collaboration initiatives to enhance projects implementation in the Sudan crisis affected zones, emphasizing the importance of close coordination between all working organizations and relevant government agencies to ensure that projects are implemented on schedule and within their approved budgets. He also appreciated the efforts of SOS Sahel Sudan team in North Darfur, who chose to stay close to the affected communities and developed good coordination with humanitarian actors in the state.
The WASH and Hygiene project implemented by SOS Sahel Sudan represents a successful model of cooperation between national and international organizations and government authorities, contributing to improving basic services for those affected by the war in North Darfur State. With such coordination efforts, there remains an urgent need for more funding to support local communities and alleviate their suffering.
