Joint Response #5 Project Supporting Livelihoods & Hygiene promotion in Dar Alsalam locality North Darfur State

SOS Sahel and ZOA Delivering Hygiene Kits and Livestock to targeted people in Um Ghbeisha village
With generous funding from DRA SOS Sahel Sudan in partnership with ZOA, continues to implement vital community support activities across Dar El Salam locality in North Darfur State.
On September 16, 2025, a field team accompanied by members of the Um Ghbeisha Community Committee successfully carried out the distribution of personal hygiene kits to 300 households, alongside the delivery of 60 goats to 12 families—each receiving 4 females and 1 male goat. All beneficiaries were present, and the visit proceeded smoothly without any challenges, thanks to the tireless efforts of the local committee.
During the visit, the team also met with participants of the income-generating activities, who identified small business ideas tailored to their needs. These micro-projects are scheduled for funding in the upcoming phase of the program.
Community Recommendation:
One of the key priorities raised by local residents was the rehabilitation of the water station, which plays a critical role in daily life and public health.
Next Visit:
A follow-up field visit is planned for September 20, 2025, focusing on training local Animal Health Committees to strengthen veterinary care and livestock management.
