Strengthening Inclusive Partnerships for Small-Scale Producers in the Traditional Rainfed Sector (SIPRA) – Rabak Locality, White Nile State

In a high-level meeting chaired by H.E. Eng. Wissal Elsheikh Farah, Minister of Production and Economic Resources, the fourth quarterly technical committee convened to review progress on the project implemented by SOS Sahel Sudan in partnership with the Ministry of Production. The meeting brought together project stakeholders including Eng. Kamel Mohamed Kamel, Project Manager, directors from relevant departments, and a representative from the Agricultural Research Station.

✅ The Minister commended SOS Sahel Sudan’s impactful interventions between the previous and current quarterly meetings, highlighting the organization’s commitment and excellence in execution.

📊 A detailed activity report was presented by Engineer Kamel the project manager, reflected the following key achievements:

  • 👨‍🌾 Trained 20 local agricultural extension agents from target communities to deliver Extension messages and mobilize farmers for adoption.
  • 🌱 Established 5 Farmer Field Schools with 5 demonstration plots, training 150 farmers as community trainers using modern technical packages, supported by 2 rainfed extension officers from the Ministry of Production.
  • 🧑‍💼 Delivered training to 40 agricultural associations on agribusiness management and value addition.
  • 🌍 Formed and trained 5 community committees on natural resource management and conflict resolution.
  • 🛠️ Provided technical support and continuous follow-up to 40 associations preparing to apply for Challenge Fund grants.
  • 📣 Held an awareness session for stakeholders in food security, agribusiness, and civil society on large-scale funding opportunities for companies, networks, and community organizations.
  • ✅ 7 diverse project proposals submitted by targeted groups were approved for funding (e.g., tractors, mills, oil presses) for 7 agricultural associations.
  • 👩‍🌾 Formed and trained 6 women’s agricultural groups on home gardening, market access, safe food preparation, and general nutrition. Seeds and equipment were distributed to beneficiaries.

🌟 The technical committee praised SOS Sahel Sudan’s agricultural work and recommended the continuation of activities initiated during the rainfed season into the upcoming winter irrigated season to maximize impact. The committee also proposed forming a sub-committee for field visits to monitor implementation and address challenges.

👏 The Technical committee, urging the organization to build on lessons learned from the previous season, and affirmed that SOS Sahel Sudan’s interventions should serve as a model for other agricultural organizations operating in the state.
