The intervention is an effective and timely response addressing the food needs among the affected population, and indirectly contributed to sustaining the hosting arrangements with host families (through the food contribution to the household). The distribution of food items instead of cash-based assistance was very much welcomed by vulnerable people.

The food packages is originally planned to cover the basic food need for 750 hh hosted by relatives- in two months”. However, because of the urgent needs arise for IDPs in living in centers, the Government authority requested SOS Sahel to distribute 50% of the package to needy people in the centers and 50% to those hosted by relatives. Because of increase in exchange rate the available fund covered 1033 food packages instead of 750.

The composition of the food item packages distributed included sugar, lentils, rice, flour, salt and cooking oil is appropriate in the context and very welcomed by the beneficiaries.
