White Nile State Governor Launched Production and Value addition related Agricultural Projects for Smallholder Farmers at the rain-fed area in Rabak
In a major step toward agricultural transformation, the Governor of White Nile State, Lt. Gen. Qamar El-Din Mohamed Fadl El-Moula, accompanied by Minster of Production & economic resources and state HAC commissioner, has officially launched a series of Production and Value addition Agricultural Projects for Smallholder Farmers at the rain-fed area in Rabak. The initiative aims to improve economic conditions and enhance livelihoods across the state, through increasing production and productivity as well as value addition.
During the launch event at the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in Kosti, the Governor urged National, International and UN organizations to prioritize their funds to support development projects for small-holder farmers. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to developmental efforts, especially in agriculture—as a pathway to achieving self-sufficiency in food production.
Through this event, seven producers Associations and eleven youth in Rabak locality received 18 production and value addition projects, for instance 2 Tractors, 2 Grinding flour, 1 Oil processing machine etc. This support is aimed at boosting productivity, increasing income, and adding value to local producers.
The Governor emphasized that increasing agricultural production and productivity depends on empowering smallholder farmers and supporting their projects to strengthening food security. He called on SOS Sahel Sudan to expand its efforts to reach all small-scale farmers in the state.
Eng. Izzeldin Hashim, Head of Programs at SOS Sahel Sudan, highlighted the organization’s focus on poverty reduction through sustainable natural resources management. He noted that the project was implemented in partnership with the Ministry and the Humanitarian Aid Commission to ensure long-term impact.
